We here at TEGS are happy to announce that team member Brent Mansfield has been newly appointed UBC Food System Project Coordinator by SEEDS (UBC Social, Ecological and Economic Development Studies)! SEEDS matches faculty, staff and students in sustainability projects of mutual interest. This project is a 10 year collaboration between the Faculty of Land and Food Systems and SEEDS and has made important progress in helping the UBC food system’s transition to become a more sustainable and healthier food system.
Brent brings with him a wealth of experience from his extensive work in food system planning, policy development, education, and community work. Brent is currently pursuing his Master’s degree in Integrated Studies at the UBC Faculty of Land and Food Systems and has earned a Bachelor of Education as well as a Bachelor of Science in Molecular Biology and Biochemistry. He has worked as a secondary teacher in the public school system and helped inform the development of the recently approved Vancouver Food Strategy.
He currently serves as Co-Chair of the Vancouver Food Policy Council and as the Community Liaison in the Think&EatGreen@School Project in the Faculty of Land and Food Systems.
