From garden to classroom table, food safety practice is essential to food preparation. Vegetables and fruit can still be a potential source of food borne illness. Even when working only with produce, you can take steps to reduce the risk of food borne illness in the school setting. Note that this workshop will focus on working with produce. This workshop does not take the place of FOOD SAFE LEVEL 1.

Presented by: Vancouver Coastal Health, Vancouver Board of Education, Fresh Roots Urban Farm and HealthLinkBC in cooperation with the Vancouver District Parent Advisory Council. This free, interactive workshop is for parents, students and staff involved in food sales to students at all Vancouver schools and school events. The workshop is designed to support the learning of students by offering healthy, local, sustainable, safe food at school while reducing waste as much as possible.
Please bring your own beverage container, plate and utensils to help support sustainability. Water will be served at the workshop and suppliers will be providing samples of their products.
