After years of mixing all of my kale with all of my potatoes into the Dutch staple of Boerenkoel, I finally have an alternative recipe for those hardy greens. It’s “Kale Blossom Pesto”, and it’s in the May 2012 edition of the Orchard Garden’s Field News, along with all of the good things you have come to expect from the Orchard Garden. This month’s edition all features a literature and resource review of all things pollination and bees from UBC Teacher Candidate Lauren Everall, a fall harvesting guide, and details for the upcoming Orchard Garden Summer Celebration. At bare minimum, mark Friday, June 15 from 1:00PM-4:00PM on your calendars and celebrate in the garden with music, garden themed snacks and activities! As Robin Williams says, “Spring is Nature’s way of saying ‘Let’s Party!'”
